Frequently asked questions.

Direct answers to the questions we hear most often from engineering leaders and healthcare technology buyers.

General Development Process

How long does a typical custom software project take?

Most custom software engagements run 3-6 months for a first production release, depending on scope. A focused SaaS MVP can ship in 8-12 weeks; enterprise integrations with legacy systems or regulatory review (e.g., healthcare) typically take longer.

Do you work fixed-price or time-and-materials?

Both, depending on how well-defined the scope is. Fixed price works well for clearly-scoped builds with a locked requirements set; time-and-materials suits projects that will evolve as we learn more, such as an MVP finding product-market fit.

What does your development process look like?

Discovery and technical scoping, followed by iterative delivery in short sprints with regular demos, continuous integration, and staged environments (development, staging, production) before any release.

Pricing & Engagement Models

How much does custom software development cost?

It depends heavily on scope, but most mid-size custom software projects range from the low tens of thousands of dollars for a focused MVP to several hundred thousand for a multi-module enterprise system. We provide a detailed estimate after a scoping call, not a generic price list.

Do you offer staff augmentation instead of full project delivery?

Yes. We can embed individual engineers or a small dedicated team into an existing engineering organization, working under the client's own processes and tooling, in addition to full end-to-end project delivery.

Healthcare & Compliance

Do you build HIPAA-compliant software?

Yes. We implement the technical safeguards HIPAA requires — encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access control, audit logging, and automatic session timeout — and work under a signed Business Associate Agreement for any engagement involving protected health information.

What is the difference between DICOM and HL7 FHIR?

DICOM governs how medical images themselves are stored, transmitted, and queried. HL7 FHIR is a broader clinical-data interoperability standard used to exchange patient, order, and result data via modern REST APIs. Real-world imaging systems typically use both together.

Can you integrate with our existing PACS or EHR?

In most cases, yes — via standard DICOM/DICOMweb services for imaging systems, or HL7 v2/FHIR APIs for EHR integration. The specific approach depends on which protocols and versions your existing systems support, which we confirm during technical discovery.

Technology & Architecture

What technology stack do you use?

Primarily React and Next.js on the frontend, Node.js or .NET on the backend, and Azure or AWS for cloud infrastructure — chosen per project based on team fit, existing systems, and long-term maintainability rather than a one-size-fits-all default.

Can you modernize a legacy application instead of rebuilding it?

Yes. Where feasible, we prefer incremental modernization — wrapping legacy systems with modern APIs, migrating module by module — over a full rewrite, since a phased approach reduces business risk and lets the existing system keep running throughout.

Security & Data

How do you handle data security across projects?

Every project follows secure SDLC practices: encrypted data in transit and at rest, least-privilege access control, dependency vulnerability scanning, and code review before merge. Specific compliance requirements (HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2) are layered on top of this baseline as needed.

Do you sign NDAs before scoping calls?

Yes, we routinely sign NDAs before detailed technical discovery calls, particularly for projects involving proprietary business logic or sensitive data.

Working With Influrion

Which countries do you serve?

We work with clients across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and India, with overlap-hours communication and contracting adapted to each region.

How do we get started?

Book a scoping call through our contact page. We'll ask about your goals, constraints, and timeline, then follow up with a written proposal outlining approach, timeline, and cost.
